But what’s so promising for our small, thriving nation is that for all Costa Rica’s reputation as an ecological force, there is so much more to offer here.  Growing cultural, culinary, and adventure tourism have come to complement the ecotourism that has led the way. Small towns like Monteverde are a fantastic example — once considered a remote mountain town for only the most adventurous biologists and bird watchers, today it has become a thriving town with a rich history, a happening food scene, and a growing reputation as a destination for musicians and artists. Just like Monteverde, so many others have carved out unique identities that draw visitors from all around the world.
