The UK's Sunday Times Features Costa Rica With Emphasis on Monteverde!

Monteverde Costa Rica

It’s always a pleasure when we see the good word about Costa Rica traveling the world, especially when they feature our beautiful hometown in the mountains. And The UK’s Sunday Times went into depth into both this week, thanks to a wonderfully-done travel guide by destination expert Lucy Perrin.

Take me to the Birds of Monteverde Landing page

Perrin starts by explaining her love for the country and its people (which we think were autocorrected to “Tikis” rather than “Ticos”), before diving into her thoughts on the best places to stay, the activities to dive into, and her opinions on the “Can't-Miss” in Costa Rica.

A full section on Monteverde sticks out front and center, with a birder’s flourish that our local guides appreciated.

“The cloud forests add to Costa Rica’s sense of adventure and Monteverde*, home to 2.5 percent of the world’s entire biodiversity, is the most child-friendly; explore it from skywalks, a sky tram, or zip lines. Come from November to February to avoid the rain and book a guide: there are literally thousands of species of birds to spot, but you’ll triple your chances if you’re with someone who knows where to look. Five points if you see the three-wattled bellbird; ten for the resplendent quetzal, the iridescent green-and-gold-coated national bird that sashays around trailing an elegant plume of tail feathers.”

Read the Article and Visit for Yourself!

Perrin’s article is worth a quick read if you’re planning a trip to the country, and definitely gives a substantive look fitting to a paper of the Sunday Times’ stature!
